Winter Tips for Wellness

Kidneys & Urinary Bladder are the organs associated with the Winter season. Some tips to have a healthier happier season.

Acupressure points – rubbing these points 30-60 seconds can stimulate and promote health and well-being.

Kidney 3 – in the depression between the inner ankle and Achilles tendon, located at the same level as the ankle bone

Used to treat low back, ankle and foot pain as well as abdominal pain and discomfort, diarrhea, tinnitus, headache, dizziness, cough, asthma, wheezing, poor memory, impotence and menstruation

Urinary Bladder 2 – on the inner edge of the eyebrows

Used for blurry and difficult vision and red and painful eyes. Also for headaches around and behind the eyes, sinus congestion, facial paralysis and facial tics.

Other points: Kidney 27 and Urinary Bladder 60

The Heart and Small Intestine are the organs associated with the Summer season. The Spleen and Stomach are associated with the late Summer Season. Here are some tips to have a healthier happier season.

 

Acupressure points – rubbing these points 30-60 seconds can stimulate and promote health and well-being. Feel free to step inside our office for clarification of these point locations

Heart 7  – With the palm facing up, on the inside of the wrist, on the little finger side of the crease where the hand meets the wrist                             

Functions: promotes a calm mind, alleviates anxiety, stimulates memory, corrects insomnia, alleviates sadness, fear and fright, and palpitations

Spleen 6 –  located just off the edge of the bone approximately 3 inches above the inside ankle

Functions: Abdominal pain & distention, loose stools, fatigue, vaginal discharge, hernia, PMS symptoms, low libido, vertigo, dizziness, insomnia

Other beneficial acupressure points:

Stomach 36 – balances digestion, helps fight fatigue, supports immune system, depression, dizziness, headaches, anemia

Small Intestine 3 – used for stiff neck & shoulders, low back pain, headaches, tinnitus, night sweats, sore throat, dizziness, earaches

The Liver and Gallbladder are the organs associated with the Spring season. Here are some tips to have a healthier happier season.

 

Acupressure points – rubbing these points 30-60 seconds can stimulate and promote health and well-being. Feel free to step inside our office for clarification of these point locations

Liver 3 – on the top of the foot, in the depression between the 1st and 2nd metatarsal bones meet

Used for dizziness, headaches, vertigo, epilepsy, painful &/or blurry eyes, irregular menstruation, depression, uterine bleeding and prolapse, urine retention, genital pain, frequent sighing, insomnia

Gallbladder 34 –  below the outside of the knee, in the depression, just off the shin bone. Approximately 1 inch anterior & interior to the head of the fibula

Used to relax the tendons & joints, treats numbness of the leg, stiffness of the neck, shoulder & elbow, swelling & pain of the knees, face & head. Also for Gallbladder problems, jaundice, hypochondriac pain, constipation & vomiting

Anger and depression are the emotions of the Liver & Gallbladder. These emotions will ascend your Qi and cause health issues. Give us a call to help calm these emotions.

Lungs are the organs associated with the Fall season. Here are some tips to have a healthier happier season.

 

Acupressure points – rubbing these points 30-60 seconds can stimulate and promote health and well-being.

Large Intestine 20 – on the face, level with the bottom of the nostril, on the groove that is formed when you smile                             

Used for nasal congestion and discharge, rhinitis, loss of sense of smell, sneezing, nasal polyps, and nose bleeds.  Also used for itchy eyes and facial pain with swelling.

Lung 7 – Roughly 2 inches above the base of the thumb

Used for Nasal congestion, cough, headache, asthma, chills & fever

Lung 9 – On the wrist crease, just below the thumb

Used for cough, asthma, wheezing, shortness of breath, red & painful eyes

Large Intestine 4  – on the back of the hand between the thumb and first finger, in the fleshy part of the hand

Used for headaches, nasal discharge, rhinitis, sneezing, pain in the eyes

Fall foods to eat: Pungent foods help to Nourish the Lung Qi  Onions, ginger, cayenne, basil, mint, rice, steamed veggies, mustard, tofu, soy beans, pear, wheatgrass juice, daikon radish, and  sea veggies to strengthen the blood and circulate qi
